Bio
Carlos McSwain, like so many of our great pioneers in music and entertainment was born into legacy of professionals musicians, vocalists, and performers. The North Carolina native began playing the drums at the age of 5 years old. It was at the age 11 that McSwain’s mother, who at the time was multi-talented traveling theatre actress, decided to take him on the road with her. Shortly before one of her performances the production’s drummer was unable to perform. His mother wasted no time letting the director know that her son could fill in for the absent drummer. In spite of any reservations the director allowed Carlos to audition. Needless to say the producers and director were all thoroughly impressed with his performance. Not only did he get the job for that show but, he was immediately hired for the remaineder of the productions tour. This was the beginning of an amazing journey that would take Carlos to places he had only imagined going. He was educated on the road while traveling with the many theatrical productions he played for. During this time he became self thaught on keys, the electric lead guitar, and the bass guitar. It was during his early years that he was able to nurture and cultivate his many talents while traveling and playing in church.
On his 15th birthday his older brother world renowned producer, director, and musician William ‘Big Worm’ Blount surprised him with the news that he would become the late superstar Aaliyah’s drummer. This proved to be the opportunity that would catapult his career into the stratosphere. Since performing with Aaliyah, Carlos has performed and toured abroad with the likes of Ginuwine, Monica, Charlie Wilson, Snoop Dogg, J. Holiday, Cowboy Mouth, Keith Washington, Shirley Murdock, Micheal Tolcher, T.I., Future, The Game, and various Tyler Perry Productions just to name a few. He is currently playing for T.I. and Future. Carlos ‘Los’ McSwain at a very young age has obtained the respect of some very notable peers. ‘He is one of the best to ever do it...hands down!’ Aaron Clay Bassist (Flo-Rida, Johnny Gill, Cee-Lo)
With an energy that is unmatched, his skill and innovative approach to drumming, as well as his undeniable passion for the art of music Carlos is definitely the perfect candidate to take the music industry by storm. ‘Los’ says that some of his musical influences are Marvin Gaye, The Dramatics, The Manhattan and gospel quartet groups like the Pilgrim Jubilees, The Canton Spirituals, and The Mighty Clouds of Joy. ‘...that was the music that inspired me....That’s the stuff that made me feel good. I just want my work to touch people. When everything is said and done I want to know that I used what God gave me to touch lives. Then I will have done what was required of me.’ Carlos ‘Los’ McSwain
Los has most recently released a 6 song EP with West Coast Rapper Daz Dillinger of the multi platinum selling rap group Tha Dogg Pound and is recording a solo project.
