Bio
Bass or Guitar in hand and vibrant vocals delivered to the microphone, Chris ‘Brody’ Brown takes the stage as a dynamic artist who merges retro sounds, fresh new beats and distinctive lyrics to captivate an audience. His talents have afforded him the opportunity to perform on Jay Leno, Jimmy Kimmel Live, The Ellen Show, Tyra Banks Show, David Letterman, Good Morning America and Saturday Night Live. Brody has built local recognition in his hometown of Los Angeles through entertaining performances at King King, The Roxy, The Troubadour and industry showcases.
Now, at age 22 he looks back to age 5 when he realized that being a part of music was what he wanted for his life. Chris’ mother, Renice Wade, is a single parent who does everything she can to support his growth in becoming the best at his talents. She often mentions how as a toddler, Chris always managed to find his way to the kitchen grabbing whatever tool he could find; using pots and pans to create harmony. This was her first indication that he would create brilliant music. Well, she was right, his kitchen debut led to his artistic sound.
While still in high school, his mother decided it was time to buy Chris his very own keyboard to learn the fundamentals of music. His mother presented him with a top of the line Triton keyboard with savvy applications that enabled Chris to learn how to synchronize beats and create diverse music tracks. His music was inspired by the ’70s and ’80s era of R&B by artists such as The Beatles, Marvin Gaye, Rick James and Madonna.
By 2004, Chris became ‘Brody Brown’, launching his career asa seasoned musician, hot young writer and producer at age 14. Teaming up with friends and band mates 1500 or Nothin, Brody began playing with gospel artists and R&B acts like Bobby Valentino. The other band members were 20 and up. Brody was the only 14-year-old in the band. Together they would go on to tour and perform extensively with artist such as Kanye West, Timbaland, Lupe Fiasco, will.i.am and several others. As time moved on, Brody began to get attention from music industry professionals and his dreams had finally come to fruition, to strive towards making hit records that will top the music charts. In the fourth quarter of 2007, Brody signed a publishing deal with West Side Independent Publishing Company. Most recently Brody has enjoyed working with several worldrenowned writers, producers and artists to focus his talents on building his career in the same areas. Since the start of his production career, he has collaborated on various projects as a producer and writer with music for T Pain, Lupe Fiasco, Lionel Richie, Heavy D, Toni Braxton, James ‘Big Jim’ Wright, Dr. Dre, Kara DioGuardi, Raphael Saadiq, James Fauntleroy, Flo Rida, will.i.am, B.o.B., The Virgins, Brandy, Warryn Campbell, Mary Mary, Joi Campbell, Bruno Mars and 1500 Or Nuthin’. Brody’s consistency in creating music in all genres was recognized as Heavy D’s Vibes album received a GRAMMY® nomination for Best Reggae Album in 2009 (Brody’s work can be found on "No Matter What" and "Sincere").
Brody currently resides in Los Angeles, CA, as a important member of the 1500 or Nothin movement. Riding high on his latest grammy noms for his work with Bruno Mars on his latest album and hit single "Grenade", Brody's ambition, focus and commitment are propelling him to establish the empire.
